Increasing Heli Crate Lock Time
Starting at the 5am reboot on August 21st, Heli crates will be locked to players for 15 minutes rather than 5. This means players that take down a Heli will now have 15 minutes to retrieve the loot from the crates. After that, any player can access the crates.
Handcuffs Removed Due To Known Bug
FacePunch has been trying to track down a bug where sometimes a handcuffed player still can’t access their inventory after being released, dying, and even restarting.
Since handcuffs don’t “really” play a part on PvE anyway, we are removing them from the server at least for now (though likely for good). Players will no longer be able to craft or use them.
Convoy Changes – Event Ends When Time Is Up
Convoy will now end when the timer runs out even if a player is inside the dome. Items already dropped (the hackable crate if the transport was destroyed, loot from Bradley if they were destroyed, etc.) will remain on the ground. But any NPCs and un-destroyed vehicles will now despawn when the timer ends.
We are making this change so that when players take convoy outside their base, the event can end rather than being held open indefinitely after the player has returned to their base that’s still inside the dome. This will allow Convoy to respawn on schedule.
Mid-July 2024 Wipe
The Mid-July wipe is now live. The combined Outpost/Bandit Camp has returned to the center of the map. The stable vendor at Outpost also now works as expected (he sales correct horse equipment such as saddles).
As always, please report any issues you come across via ticket in #admin-help on our Discord.
Bikes Now Available With /buy!
The new bikes are now available via Vehicle License (/buy). The direct commands are:
- /bike or /pbike – Single person pedal bike.
- /trike or /ptrike – Two person pedal bike.
- /mbike or /motorbike – Single person motor bike.
- /mbikescar or /motorbikesidecar – Two person motor bike.
FacePunch Punches Us In The Face!
FacePunch released a mandatory Server/Client update this morning after only a few hours notice, while most were sleeping, and with only a short term update to staging (beta) branch first. This forced update has caused several plugins to break. While we are monitoring for updates, most plugins “appear” to be working again as of now. There are some behind the scenes issues, but seem to be mostly cosmetic at this time.
However, we do encourage all players to report any issues on our Discord so we can follow up to make sure they are fixed.
July Wipe – Bikes and Bandit’s Back
Half the year is already gone. I don’t know about you, but I’d love to know where it went!
This month, Facepunch has released bikes to Rust. These can be found at various monuments. There are two manual bikes (standard bicycle and a tricycle) and two motor bikes (standard and with sidecar). We also expect (hope) these will be loaded to vehicle licenses soon.
Facepunch also introduced changes to vending machines. Mainly the new dynamic pricing on NPC vending machines. However, it also appears that these changes caused issues with several of the machines at our combined Outpost. As such, we have reverted back to a separate Outpost and Bandit Camp for this wipe. We will look at options for mid-month wipe and hopefully bring back a combined Outpost.
As always, if you experience any problems, please let us know in #admin-help on our Discord.
Removed Rocket Launchers – Factory Guards And Village Idiots
Rocket launchers have been removed from the Factory Guards (at Factory) and Village Idiots (at Village). This is to fix possible NPC raids of player bases that were built too close to these monuments.
Raidable Bases Loot
The loot tables used by Raidable Bases have been updated. There are still some tweaks that need to be made, but players should see more loot in their raids now.
Of course, Raidable Bases still randomizes the loot in each base. However, the tables are more compact and should produce better results now.
